PGF Biofuels

PGF Biofuels is a division of Paterson GlobalFoods Inc, a family owned International Agri-Food business with over 100 years of history in the Canadian grain industry. PGF Biofuels is focused on the production and marketing of carinata for industrial oilseed markets around the globe.

What Is Carinata?

  • Carinata - commonly known as Ethiopian mustard - is an oilseed crop designed to grow well in marginal soil zones due to its ability to withstand a wide range of growing conditions.
  • Currently, the primary market for carinata oil is as a feedstock for biodiesel and biojet fuel production.
  • Carinata is considered to be a promising feedstock for the production of biojet fuel as it is interchangeable with petroleum-based jet fuel, requiring no special storage or handling.
  • Carinata oil offers biodiesel and biojet fuel producers a premium oil product with many unique advantages over other feedstock options.

PGF Biofuels has partnered with Saskatoon-based Agrisoma Biosciences as the exclusive distributor of Resonance, a carinata variety developed for the Prairies' brown soil zone.
